Let them eat cake...

A few weekends ago, Matthew and I were finally able to do something wedding related. We went to our cake tasting! I wasn’t really sure what to expect but we knew pretty much what we wanted. When we arrived, we were bombarded with questions about what we had in mind. Luckily, I had a couple of inspiration pictures on hand to help them see my vision.



The top tier of our cake will be covered in yellow fondant (like the second picture) with the same type of pipping detail. But instead of white, it will be grey. The cupcakes will make up the bottom tiers. They will be covered with white butter cream and have yellow and grey flowers (like in the first picture).

Once we had decided on a design, they brought out the samples. J Yummm! They brought out four of their most popular flavors for us to try. The first one we tried was almond cake with almond cream cheese filling. It was DELICIOUS! Next up was devils food cake with chocolate gnocchi. Of course I liked it. Matthew on the other hand wasn’t as big of a fan. After that, we tried French vanilla cake with raspberry filling. I’m not a fan of raspberry filling but it wasn’t too bad. Matthew really liked that one. Last up was a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. Surprisingly, I thought it was ok. Usually I am not a fan of red velvet but this one was alright. Matthew thought it was ok too. We eventually decided that the top tier will be the almond cake. The cupcakes that will make up the bottom tiers will be devils food cake and French vanilla.
