Honeymoon: All Aboard, Juneau Alaska

On Tuesday, July 31st we set foot in Juneau, Alaska. We were both pretty excited because we had a four hour whale watching excursion ahead of us. When we stepped off the cruise ship, we were greeted by another overcast, rainy day in Alaska. Luckily, the rain wasn't coming down too hard and I was able to get some good pictures.

After the whale watching, it was time for us to board this ship again and start our cruise to see a glacier up close. I was REALLY excited for this part. Everyone we talked to that had been on this cruise said it was the most amazing part. Matthew & I wanted to make sure we had a good view so we stood out in the freezing cold the whole time...which was like two hours!!! Even though it was cold, I'm sure glad we were up top because I was able to get some good pictures. The water looks so warm in most of these pictures that you wouldn't think we were huddled up next to a vent the entire time trying to stay warm!

After getting hundreds of pictures of the glacier, we decided we should probably warm up and get something to eat. We headed down to the dining room and still had a nice view of the glacier as we were eating. Later that night, we found our towel animal.....a gangster pig! LOL

The Weight Loss Chronicles: Shedding lbs

About a week ago, I decided to start the South Beach Diet. After months and months of "trying" to eat healthy, I realized my problem was CARBS

I love them!
All of them!
Get in my belly you yummy, yummy carbs!

Once I realized where my problem was, I decided to find a diet/eating program that fixed it! South Beach was the answer. For those of you who aren't familiar with South Beach, there are three phases of eating. Phase 1 lasts two weeks and you cut out ALL carbs! That's right no bread, corn, carrots, fruit, or anything that has copious amounts of carbs.

I'll admit the first couple of days I would've killed someone for a In N Out burger...ok maybe not really...but I was SOOOOOOOO hungry even though I was eating 6 meals a day. After the cravings went away, it seemed to be fairly easy. Instead of making sandwiches, I make lettuce wraps. Instead of eating a hamburger, I eat a chicken breast.

While it may seem VERY limiting, I keep telling myself that its only for two weeks! And let me tell you, it has been WORKING! That's right! For the first time in a long while, I have finally started to loose pounds consistently. In the first week, I lost around 5lbs. This week, I started running with Embree (FYI: I have been saying I was going to do this for MONTHS)! I even got Matthew to start working out with me and since I cook dinner most nights, he has been eating healthier than usual! At the end of the week I start Phase 2. I'm excited to be able to eat fruit again!
