August 1st, the boat stopped in Skagway, Alaska. We didn't have any shore excursions planned for this port because there wasn't too much to do and we were a little low on funds. If we had more spending money, I would've signed us up for the train that goes around the mountain. Regardless, we had a great time walking around the little town. It also happened to be Matthew's birthday that day, so I wanted to make sure that he had an enjoyable day.
We got off the boat and had a short walk into the downtown area which was pretty small. It consisted of one street about 1-1 1/2 miles long with varying shops on either side. Towards the end, we stumbled upon a brewery and decided to grab a bite to eat and of course, a birthday beer for Matthew. Everything we tried there was extremely delicious! Once we were finished, we bought a souvenir mug and decided to see what else Skagway had to offer. We searched through the various souvenir shops to find something unique to buy, but didn't really see anything that we absolutely had to have. After a couple of hours walking around, we decided to head back to the boat to grab a late lunch and a quick nap.

That night we went to dinner at the sushi bar on board the boat. We ate some really good food and had a lot of leftovers that we couldn't keep :( !!! After dinner, we decided to go to one of the shows that was on board that night and then out dancing. We stayed out dancing until 4 AM!!! Luckily, we didn't get to Canada until mid afternoon the next day because we slept in until almost noon.
